Rosalind Saunders Secretary
Name:
Rosalind Saunders
Why I joined the organisation and what I hope to achieve:
I believe passionately in the right of older people to be recognised as part of the local community, to exercise choice and retain their independence, and to enjoy a good quality of life in their own homes. The befriending service provided by SCC is a vital complement to local statutory services, as well as an exciting opportunity for local people to volunteer. I hope that my past experience in different areas of social care can contribute to and inform the SCC Board of Trustees in its task of supporting the important work of the staff and volunteers.
Background:
I was born in Cambridge, have lived in various parts of the UK including London, and moved to the Elephant and Castle area in 1996. I am a regular and active member of Southwark Cathedral and of St Hugh's Bermondsey. I am married with 3 grown up children and 7 grandchildren. Over recent years I have been giving regular care and support to my elderly mother in Cambridge.
